I am currently a Research Scientist in the Certus Center at Simula Research Laboratory. Previously, I was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Simula working on the ModelME! Project - a joint industry project sponsored by Det Norske Veritas (DNV). Before joining Simula, I was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at University College London, supported by a generous fellowship from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada.

I received my PhD (2008) and MSc (2003) in Computer Science from the University of Toronto, and my BSc in Software Engineering from Sharif University of Technology (2000).

Mehrdad's greatest achievements!

New! Our paper on Technology Qualification wins best paper award at the 13th IEEE International High Assurance Systems Engineering Symposium (Press Release).
New!Simula is participating in an FP7 EU project named OPENCOSS on safety certification of embedded systems (Press Release)
New! Simula is establishing a center of excellence in software engineering (the Certus Center), supported by a large research grant from the Research Council of Norway (Press Release)

Research Interests

My research interests are focused on software engineering, and more specifically on model-based development of complex software-intensive systems. My current research is primarily concerned with modelling and analysis of safety-critical embedded systems. I am further interested in global software engineering, an more precisely, how distributed software teams can keep track of the relationships between their models, and reason about and integrate these models.
