Bluetooth, Vaio and Ericsson T68iUpdate 18.09.2002: During the spring I bought a Ericsson T68i cell phone. The main reason for choosing this phone was the built in Bluetooth support, which I tought must be a perfect match with the Vaio when travelling. During the summer I didn't have much time to fiddle with this, but yeasterday evening I had a go with it. What I wanted to figure out was how to use Bluetooth and the T68i to dial up and get a internet connection, preferably using GPRS. And guess what, now it works. After a few hours googling, compiling and testing, I have a connection which works, though it's still kind of unstable. There are a few links to other pages I like to mention. First, I use the BlueZ bluetooth stack for linux: bluez. Else, the main sources for information was the following two sites: unrooted and Tills Palm & Linux Bluetooth pages. I also got some information here: GPRS over BlueTooth on a .... Later, I will write up in more detail what I had to do to get my connection going. I might also include some configuration files! The next project will be to synchronize pim information between my Vaio, T68i and my Palm m515 (also with a bluetooth card)! Ok, I am now waiting for some great new equipment. A brand new Sony Vaio Picturebook C1VFK is ordered from a hardware-pusher in UK. It was not quite easy to get hold of the ting from Norway, but finally I get through. I did not get very much help from Sony Norway, though. Update: It's here!! I will be busy a few days ;-) Anyway, soon I have the ting! I will update this page when it arrives. The company I bought it from told me that I will have the machine in week 37. I know there are just a few good C1-pages out there, but this ting is way too cool to not have my own page about it! That will be all for now. More when stuff arrives!
This is what the thing looks like Installation of Debian GNU/Linux with ReiserFS supportI received the Picturebook C1VFK yesterday, on 11.09.2001, and has started the installation of Linux on it today. Today, on 17.9.2001, installation of Linux on the C1VFK is almost finished. I have usable Debian-sid installation, with reiserFS as the main filesystem. The simplest way to get this, is to install a stock Debian somewhere on the disk, then install the reiser-tools, and create a root-filesystem somewhere else on the disk. After that, install grub to boot from the new root. One terrible thing with this very nice computer, is that it seem immpossible to get suspend/resume to work in linux. This mean that it's a bit hard on battery consumption. But I can live with it for now. |
