Linux Software

The table below lists a subset of available software on the linux platform at Simula. If you have a spesific task you need to do, and do not have any preferences regarding whcih package to use, look for some application in the "Essential Application" column. These packages are well supported by the supportteam and they should always work. If you have problems with some of these packages you may either contact the supportperson of the day (check ~simula/docs/support) or send an email to drift@simula.no.

If you are more experimental or are not satiesfied with the essential selection of tools, you may try out some of the applications in the alternative section. If you have problems with those, you should only contact the support team by email, and you can not expect a prompt answer - these request are served when someone have the time and courage to answer. Some tasks may have only listed alternative tools. That mean that we consider the task not essential.
